Introduction

Activity Village is a Project

Project name: Activity Village
Slogan: A place to belong. A reason to contribute.

Building the foundation

Activity Village is an early-stage initiative exploring a different approach to later life.

We envision curated villages located near existing communities, particularly retirement villages, offering shared workshops, creative spaces, and welcoming communal areas. Here, older adults can continue practising skills such as woodworking, craftsmanship, art, cooking, mentoring, and teaching.

Activity Village is not designed as a care facility.

It is imagined as a living, learning environment, a place where dignity, contribution, and social connection remain central.

Products created in these spaces may be offered to the wider community, and the village would be open to visitors, learners, and families, encouraging meaningful exchange across generations.

The concept is currently in its development phase.

We are exploring locations, refining the framework, and building aligned leadership foundations before moving toward implementation.

Our long-term vision is to create a repeatable model that can grow thoughtfully across different regions, always guided by strong values and human-centred design.

Overview

Activity Village began with a simple question:

What if getting older didn’t mean stepping away, but staying connected?

We are exploring a different way to approach later life. Not through care alone, but through shared workshops, creative spaces, and places where people can continue using their hands, their skills, and their experience.

Activity Village is imagined alongside existing communities, especially retirement villages, as a living, social environment.

Not a care facility.
Not a final stop.

But a place where people can remain active, valued, and part of something.

A place where skills are shared across generations.
Where contribution continues.
Where dignity remains visible.

The Idea

Many people reach retirement with experience, skill, and energy still very much alive, but without the spaces or rhythm to continue using them.

Activity Village is built around a simple belief:
purpose does not retire.

We imagine shared workshops and creative spaces where woodworking, sewing, metalwork, cooking, teaching, mentoring, repairing, and crafting can continue, not as hobbies tucked away, but as visible, valued contributions.

These villages would not be closed environments.
They are designed to feel open and welcoming.

Families, learners, visitors, and travellers are part of the picture, creating natural opportunities for exchange between generations.

Because human connection does not happen by accident.

It can be designed.

What makes it work

At the heart of Activity Village are spaces designed for doing and for gathering.

  • Shared workshops
Woodworking, sewing, metalwork, art, mechanical repair, baking, restoring; places where hands stay busy and skills stay alive.

  • Communal spaces
A welcoming café or restaurant-style gathering place where conversations continue long after the tools are put down.

  • A place to showcase and share
Small exhibition or retail areas where pieces created on site can be displayed or offered, not as mass production, but as meaningful work.

  • An environment of dignity
Thoughtfully designed, high-quality spaces that reflect respect for experience, not decline.

  • A strong sense of belonging
Above all, a community where contribution matters and purpose continues.

Where we are now

Activity Village is still in its early stage.

We are taking the time to shape the foundations carefully, refining the concept, exploring potential locations, and speaking with people who feel aligned with the vision.

There is no active trading yet.

This is a period of listening, learning, and designing with intention.

Between us, we bring experience from hospitality, international operations, and global corporate environments, but this project is deeply personal. It is shaped by what we are witnessing in our own families and communities.

We are currently connecting with thoughtful partners and advisors who believe in building something meaningful before rushing into structure or scale.

We believe strong roots matter.

Manifesto

We believe ageing should not mean stepping back.

It should mean staying connected, capable, and valued.

We believe human skills matter; hands that build, repair, cook, sew, shape, guide, and teach.

We believe trade skills deserve as much respect as academic titles.

Practical knowledge is not outdated, it is essential.

We believe loneliness is not an inevitable part of ageing.

Community can be designed.

We believe generations belong together; learning, creating, and sharing side by side.

In a high-tech world, high-touch matters more than ever.

Activity Village exists to close the gap between working life and retirement, to create spaces where purpose continues, dignity remains intact,
and contribution never expires.

This is not just a place.

It is a mindset.
